Despite missing a few items on the menu, the new Dimsum Plus is really such a bargain since they are offering all these items at a lower price of P888 nett from P1,094 nett before the lockdown. I was looking forward to having their Almond Soya Jelly with Lychee for dessert but for now they are offering the Chilled Mango Puree with Sago and Dried Mango or the Seasonal Fresh Fruit Platter for your sweet ending. You can also order Shang Palace Yang Zhou Fried Rice with your meal but we only got one cup to share so we won’t get too full from the rice. The serving is only for one person so I easily finished this. Of course, I got the hot prawn salad again for myself. Choose from the Hot Prawn Salad, Deep Fried Lapu Lapu Fillet with Sweet and Sour Sauce, and the Sweet and Sour Pork. Hopefully they will also be adding back more dimsum items as the city slowly reopens.Įach diner can order one Main Course from the menu aside from the unlimited dimsum dishes. I wanted to order the Fried Raddish Cake with XO Sauce and the Steamed Beef Balls, but unfortunately, these are not part of the new menu. Both were really good although I do try not to eat too much fried items. They also have fried items like the Deep Fried Taro Puffs with Dried Scallops and the Hong Kong-style Deep Fried Shrimp Spring Rolls. We had no problems finishing it off together with the rest of our orders. We love this so much that we ordered five baskets for the two of us. Of course, my all-time favorite dimsum item has always been the Steamed Crystal Skin Shrimp Dumplings or “hakao”. The Spinach Dumplings Stuffed with Shrimps is a surprising item that I thought I would not really like, but it comes with more shrimp than spinach so it is actually quite good! While the menu now is not as extensive as it was before the lockdown, you can still find most of your favorite dimsum items here like the Steamed Shanghai Xiao Long Bao with its warm soupy broth inside. They also have a Soup of the Day which varies daily. Our orders were served quite fast, starting with the Sichuan-style Hot and Sour Soup. Waiters and staff now wear face shields and face masks as part of the minimum health standards imposed by the hotel and the government. Simply check the items you want from the menu and hand it over to the servers. The new Dimsum Plus by Shang Palace comes with unlimited servings of their favorite dimsum items and more for only P888 nett per person. The counters are separated by high glass dividers so you really feel safe even with guests on the other side. I asked to be seated at the sofa areas near the back of the restaurant which offers more space and privacy. This place used to be full every day, but now they only allow a limited number of guests, which actually makes for a better dining ambiance. The dining area of Shang Palace was already quite spacious before, but now they have put even more distance in between the tables. I was even more excited to find out that they still offer their all-you-can-eat Dimsum Plus promotion which is now available at an even better price. Makati Shangri-La Manila is one of the hotels which have continuously offered delivery services even during the lockdown, so I was happy when they once again opened the doors of their signature Cantonese restaurant, Shang Palace. We also need to help revive the economy and support the employees and staff who have faced tremendous difficulties during these trying times. While it is still best to stay at home, dining at your favorite restaurants once in a while is also acceptable as long as they adhere to the safety and health standards required during the new normal. With Metro Manila going back to a General Community Quarantine status, restaurants are now slowly reopening once again to serve dine-in guests at a limited capacity.
